How Rear-End Collisions Usually Happen on Highways
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of roadway crashes, particularly on high-speed highways. They frequently occur when a driver is unable to stop in time due to differences in speed, following distance, or sudden changes in traffic flow.
Factors such as distraction, fatigue, and reduced reaction time can increase the risk of striking a slower or stopped vehicle. In some cases, limited visibility or unexpected slowdowns contribute to chain reactions along traffic corridors.
Highway safety experts regularly emphasize maintaining a safe following distance and staying alert to brake lights ahead. Even brief lapses in attention can significantly reduce the time available to react in fast-moving traffic environments.
