Raleigh, NC (June 4, 2026) – A 41-year-old man using a wheelchair was killed after being struck by a vehicle early on Thursday morning on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh.
Police said officers were called to the 7200 block of Glenwood Ave near Hilburn Dr at approximately 2:44 a.m. following reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. The man, later identified as Matthew B. Robinson, initially was reported to have sustained serious injuries. Investigators later confirmed that he died as a result of the collision.
According to a preliminary investigation, a gold 2018 Infiniti Q60 was traveling inbound on Glenwood Ave when it struck Robinson, who was stationary in the left lane while in his wheelchair. Investigators said Robinson was about 87 feet from the nearest crosswalk and was located in an unlit portion of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under investigation as detectives continue reviewing the available evidence.
