What Details Are Usually Reviewed After a Two-Vehicle Highway Collision?
After a two-vehicle highway collision, investigators usually examine how each vehicle was moving before contact occurred. This can include turning movements, lane position, traffic speed, and whether drivers had a clear view of approaching traffic at the intersection.
Road design may also be reviewed, especially at busy highway crossings connected to neighborhoods or side roads. Tire marks, vehicle damage, and debris patterns can help show where the vehicles met and how the roadway encounter unfolded.
Medical findings sometimes provide more information about the severity of injuries sustained in the wreck. Witness statements and surveillance footage, if available, may also help create a more complete timeline. In the early stages, reports are often limited while evidence from the roadway and vehicles is gathered and examined further.
