What Drivers and Cyclists Should Know About E-Bike Collisions
E-bike collisions can happen when riders and drivers have limited time to react to changing traffic movements. Because bicycles and e-bikes are smaller than passenger vehicles, they may be harder for drivers to notice in certain situations.
Factors such as visibility, speed, road design, and the actions of both the rider and driver are often considered when reviewing these types of collisions. Intersections, driveways, and areas where paths cross can require extra attention from everyone sharing the roadway.
Protective equipment, awareness of surroundings, and following traffic rules can help reduce risks for e-bike riders. Drivers can also help improve safety by watching for smaller road users and allowing enough space when traveling near them.
