Temecula, CA (January 29, 2026) – A vehicle accident involving a child and another occupant was reported late Wednesday night along State Route 79 just east of Pacific Sunset Dr, resulting in injuries and traffic delays in the area.
The incident occurred around 10:55 p.m. and involved a Hyundai and a second unidentified vehicle. According to dispatch reports, the driver of one vehicle told authorities she may have swerved into oncoming traffic prior to the crash. A 3-year-old child was also reported to be in one of the vehicles involved. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured parties. At least two individuals, including the child, sustained injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not yet been made public.
The California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire Riverside responded to the scene and noted that the roadway was blocked as a result of the collision. SandR Tow was called in to handle vehicle removal, with two tow units en route to assist.
Officers remained on site for an extended period, redirecting traffic and beginning an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. It remains unclear whether impairment, distraction, or driver error contributed to the crash.
