Tempe, AZ (January 25, 2026) – A suspected DUI-related collision sent two drivers to the hospital with serious injuries early Thursday morning, January 22, on Mill Avenue near the US 60 overpass in Tempe.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight when, according to the Tempe Police Department, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Mill Avenue ran a red light and struck another vehicle that was lawfully turning left on a green arrow.
Emergency crews from the Tempe Fire and Police Departments arrived at the scene and provided assistance. Both drivers, who were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed both were in stable condition as of the last update.
The accident happened on January 22 in a heavily trafficked area just south of the US 60 interchange. Investigators believe speed and impairment were contributing factors in the collision.
Mill Avenue was temporarily shut down in both directions as police conducted their investigation and worked to clear the scene.
