Miami-Dade Co., FL (June 25, 2026) – Two women died early on Thursday morning, June 25, after a collision involving a Tesla sedan and a flatbed commercial truck in southwest Miami-Dade. The wreck happened around 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of South Dixie Highway near Southwest 127th Avenue.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the gray Tesla and the flatbed truck were traveling in the same area before the crash. The truck was part of a caravan moving slowly at about 20 mph after workers had finished a job nearby.

Troopers said the Tesla crashed into the back of the truck. Both women in the Tesla, believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s, were pronounced dead at the site.

U.S. 1 was closed between Southwest 240th Street and Southwest 232nd Street after the collision. The victims’ names were not released in the first report. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of both women.

What Makes Late-Night Truck Collisions So Dangerous?

Late-night crashes can be especially dangerous because drivers may have less time to recognize slower traffic ahead. Darkness, speed differences, and limited visibility can make it harder to react safely.

Commercial trucks can also create severe damage when a smaller vehicle strikes the rear of the truck. The height and structure of a flatbed may increase the force felt by people inside the smaller vehicle.

After a fatal highway accident, investigators may review vehicle speeds, lighting, lane position, road conditions, and any nearby video. These details can help explain the sequence before impact and why the outcome was so serious.
