Twin Township, OH (June 17, 2026) – Four people were hospitalized after a four-vehicle crash on State Route 49 near Gordon-Landis Road in Twin Township on Tuesday, June 16. Emergency crews responded to the scene around 4 p.m. following the multi-vehicle collision.

According to troopers, a Dodge Challenger traveling northbound on State Route 49 crossed the center line for an unknown reason. The vehicle struck the tires of a semi tractor-trailer, causing at least one tire to separate from the truck. The Dodge continued north and collided head-on with a Honda CRV.

The detached semi tire then struck a work van, creating a chain reaction involving four vehicles. Two of the five people inside the Honda CRV and the driver of the Dodge Challenger were flown by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. Another person was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The semi-truck driver and van driver were not injured. We are thinking of those injured.

How Chain-Reaction Crashes Develop on Two-Lane Roads

Multi-vehicle crashes can occur when one collision creates additional hazards for nearby drivers. On two-lane roads, vehicles traveling in opposite directions are often separated by only a center line, leaving limited space to avoid sudden obstacles or impacts.

Investigators typically review each vehicle’s movements, roadway conditions, and any debris created during the crash. Vehicle damage patterns can help show the order of impacts and how one collision may have led to another. Other factors, including visibility and driver actions, may also be examined to better understand how the sequence of events unfolded.
