North Charleston, SC (July 25, 2026) – Three people lost their lives in a house fire that broke out on Sterett Street in North Charleston on Thursday night, July 23, around 9 p.m.
According to the North Charleston Fire Department, neighbors called 911 after seeing smoke and flames coming from the residence. Fire crews arrived within minutes, but officials said the fire may have been burning before it was noticed. Firefighters were told people could be trapped inside and made several attempts to rescue them. Three adults were found inside the home and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the cause of the fire has not been determined, though investigators believe it may have started in a bathroom; they continue to examine the scene to determine how the fire started.
