Kilgore, TX (August 25, 2026) – Three firefighters were hurt on Sunday night while battling a fire at a two-story home in south Kilgore. Each firefighter received treatment for a heat-related illness.
The fire began in the attic of a home in the 500 block of Camp St, west of Kilgore Primary School and off S Henderson Blvd. Smoke alarms alerted the sleeping family, allowing everyone inside to leave unharmed.
Emergency units contained the flames to the attic. Water used during firefighting damaged parts of the living space, while the American Red Cross assisted the family after they were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. We hope the firefighters affected by the heat-related illness make a full recovery.
