What Factors Are Commonly Examined in Head-On Collision Investigations?
In head-on collision investigations, officials typically review lane positioning, passing attempts, and whether a driver crossed the center line. They also examine speed, visibility, and roadway markings to determine how the vehicles entered the same path of travel.
Physical evidence, such as tire marks, debris patterns, and vehicle resting positions, helps reconstruct the sequence of events. In cases involving fire or rollover, investigators may also assess vehicle damage and mechanical failure risks. Witness statements and roadway conditions are usually used together to understand how and why the crash occurred.
