Theresa, NY (June 27, 2026) – Three people were injured in an accident on Tuesday afternoon on State Route 37 in the town of Theresa. The vehicles collided after one driver pulled out of a gas station into the path of another car.

Barbara Collins, 76, of Marcellus, was leaving the Sunoco gas station when her vehicle entered the path of a car driven by Dylan Burns, 19, of Hammond. Burns was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side of Collins’ vehicle.

How Are Intersection Crashes Involving Turning Vehicles Reviewed?

Crashes involving vehicles entering traffic from driveways, parking areas, or side roads are often reviewed by examining driver movements and roadway conditions. Investigators may examine visibility, traffic flow, signs, and each driver’s actions before the contact occurred.

Vehicle damage and positions can provide clues about the direction and force of the contact. Statements from drivers and witnesses may also help establish a timeline. These details can help explain how a roadway encounter developed and identify factors that contributed to the collision.
