Lula, GA (June 27, 2026) – Two people were hurt after a fiery multi-vehicle accident on GA-365 at Lula Road on Tuesday afternoon. The collision blocked the highway for nearly two hours.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the crash was reported at about 5:40 p.m. A 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude driven by Teresa Garrett Jones, 62, of McDonough, was traveling north on Cornelia Hwy when it attempted to turn left onto Lula Rd and entered the path of a 2002 Nissan Frontier.
The Jeep continued forward after the initial collision and struck a 2022 Honda Accord, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra, and a 2006 Ford Expedition. The Jeep caught fire, but Jones was outside the vehicle when deputies arrived.
Jones and the Nissan driver, Jesus Chavez Canales, 31, of Gainesville, were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The other vehicle occupants were not hurt. Jones remained hospitalized after surgery for a broken wrist.
The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under review, and possible charges are pending. We are thinking of those injured as they continue their recovery.
