Manlius, NY (August 14, 2026) – Three people were hurt on Wednesday after a truck towing a shed collided with a trailer on Route 290 near Kinderhook Road, triggering a four-vehicle wreck.
Police were called to the roadway, also known as Green Lakes Road, around 12:14 p.m. Investigators said 79-year-old Floyd Smith of Canastota was driving a red Ford F-150 eastbound when he crossed a double solid line and struck a westbound trailer towing a shed.
Debris from the shed then hit a third vehicle traveling behind the trailer. Smith continued driving in the wrong lane before sideswiping a fourth car.
Smith, his passenger, and the driver of the vehicle struck by shed debris were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Police issued Smith numerous tickets related to the wreck. The investigation remains ongoing. We hope those hurt make a full recovery.
