West Brighton, NY (July 23, 2026) – Three people were injured on Tuesday morning, July 21, when a vehicle overturned on Forest Avenue between Broadway and Elizabeth Street, according to the FDNY. The wreck was reported around 8:20 a.m.
All three were treated for minor injuries and taken to an area hospital. Further details on their conditions were not released, although the cause remains under investigation.

Why Do Vehicles Sometimes Overturn on City Streets?
Rollovers are less common on flat city streets than on highways, but they can still happen when a vehicle strikes a curb, another car, or an obstacle at the wrong angle. A sudden change in direction combined with speed can shift a vehicle’s weight enough to tip it onto its side or roof.
Narrower city streets, parked cars, and closely spaced intersections can all play a role, since there’s less room to correct course once a vehicle starts to lose control. Even a relatively low-speed impact can cause a rollover if the angle of contact is severe enough.
Once a vehicle is on its side or roof, getting occupants out safely becomes the priority, and crews may need extra time depending on how the vehicle came to rest. Clearing the roadway afterward can also take longer than a standard collision, since a flipped vehicle needs specialized equipment to right it or tow it away.
