Portland, CT (June 20, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a fiery two-vehicle crash that led to three people being hospitalized early Thursday morning, June 18, on Route 66, also known as Portland-Cobalt Road, in Portland.
The collision was reported just before 3 a.m. According to available information, two vehicles collided on the roadway for reasons yet to be determined. Both vehicles caught fire after the impact and sustained heavy damage. An Eversource utility pole was also damaged during the crash.
Two occupants from one vehicle and one occupant from the other vehicle suffered injuries in the collision. All three were taken to Hartford Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition. Additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash have not been released.
