Brandywine, MD (August 26, 2026) – At least three people were injured on Tuesday morning, August 25, in a multi-vehicle crash on southbound U.S. 301 near Maryland Route 5 in Prince George’s County.
Authorities said a vehicle that had fled an attempted traffic stop in Charles County later crossed the median near Substation Road and began traveling north in the southbound lanes of Crain Highway/U.S. 301. The vehicle then struck uninvolved vehicles.
Fire officials said three people had to be removed from vehicles. Two occupants of the fleeing vehicle were injured, including one person who was critically hurt and another who suffered minor injuries; drivers in the other vehicles were not seriously injured.
The crash closed all southbound lanes of U.S. 301 for several hours before the roadway reopened for the evening commute. Investigators continue reviewing the crash.
