Galt, CA (July 28, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash resulted in minor injuries on Tuesday morning on northbound State Route 99 just south of Dillard Road in Galt.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident log, the collision was reported shortly after 6:35 a.m. Initial reports indicated a black pickup truck collided with a silver Toyota Prius, leaving the Prius disabled in the No. 1 lane. A black Kia SUV and a black Hyundai Tucson were also identified as vehicles involved in the incident.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and later moved the damaged vehicles onto the right shoulder, allowing all northbound lanes to reopen. CHP subsequently upgraded the incident from a property-damage collision to a minor injury crash, confirming that at least one person was injured.

Tow trucks were requested to remove the disabled Toyota Prius, Hyundai Tucson, and another heavily damaged vehicle from the scene. Authorities have not released the number of injured people or the extent of their injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. We are thinking of everyone involved and wish those injured a full and speedy recovery.

Why Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes Cause Delays?

Collisions involving multiple vehicles often require a lengthy response because investigators must determine the sequence of impacts while emergency crews assist those involved and remove disabled vehicles. Even crashes involving minor injuries can lead to significant traffic delays when vehicles block travel lanes.

Investigators typically examine vehicle damage, roadway evidence, witness statements, and the final resting positions of the vehicles to reconstruct how the crash occurred. Electronic crash data and other available evidence may also be reviewed as part of the investigation.

Prompt removal of disabled vehicles and careful traffic management help reduce the risk of secondary collisions and allow normal traffic flow to resume as safely and quickly as possible.
