Both occupants of the SUV were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the red car was not hurt. SW Durham Rd was closed for about an hour as crews cleared the scene and removed the damaged vehicles.

How Rear-End Crashes Can Lead to Vehicle Rollovers
Rear-end crashes are common, but certain factors can cause them to become more severe. When a vehicle strikes another at a higher speed, the sudden change in momentum can push it off balance. If the vehicle then hits a fixed object, such as a light pole or curb, the force can cause it to tip or roll.
SUVs have a higher center of gravity than many passenger cars. While they offer strong protection in many situations, that height can increase the chance of rolling over during sharp turns or side impacts. A rollover may trap occupants inside, especially if the vehicle lands on its side.
Seat belt use helps reduce the risk of serious injury in these crashes. Drivers can also lower the risk of rear-end accidents by maintaining safe following distances and staying alert in busy traffic areas.
