Topeka, KS (March 10, 2026) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle late on Monday night, March 9, in central Topeka. The crash happened at the intersection of Southwest Sixth Street and Southwest Horne Street.
Emergency units were called to the scene shortly before 10:10 p.m. after reports of an injury accident. When responders arrived, they found that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials closed the area for several hours as crews worked at the crash site and examined the scene. Drivers were advised to avoid the area during the overnight response.
On Tuesday, March 10, police arrested a 38-year-old Topeka resident in connection with the incident. The woman, identified as Elizabeth Neal, was booked into the local jail on several charges, including vehicular homicide and failure to stop at an accident resulting in death.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
