Wilson’s Mills, NC (July 27, 2026) – A tow truck driver was cited after a rear-end collision on US 70 West in Wilson’s Mills left a woman and three children hurt on Saturday morning, July 25.
The collision occurred around 11:26 a.m. near Swift Creek Rd as traffic slowed due to another roadway issue farther west on US 70. A passenger vehicle and a commercial tow truck collided before both vehicles traveled about 200 feet and stopped in the median. The woman driving the passenger vehicle and three children inside were evaluated and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators said the driver of the passenger vehicle was slowing because traffic had backed up ahead. The tow truck driver told officers he moved lanes as traffic slowed, but investigators determined he failed to reduce speed. He was cited for failure to reduce speed. The investigation into the wreck remains ongoing.
