Why Motorcycle Crashes Often Lead to Serious Injuries
Motorcycle crashes frequently result in severe injuries because riders have far less protection than people inside passenger vehicles. Even when protective gear is used, the force of impact can lead to major trauma, especially on busy roads with higher traffic speeds.
Road conditions, visibility, and traffic patterns can also affect motorcycle safety. Intersections and multi-lane roadways are common locations for serious collisions because drivers may have limited time to react to nearby motorcycles. Sudden lane changes and turning movements can further increase the risk of crashes.
Long roadway closures are common after major motorcycle accidents. Crews often need extra time to document the scene, remove damaged vehicles, and examine factors that may have contributed to the collision.
