Tulare, CA (January 7, 2026) – A serious collision involving multiple vehicles occurred on W Cross Ave near the intersections of J St and I St in Tulare on Saturday evening, leaving several people with injuries and causing significant disruption to traffic in the area.
The crash, reported around 6:08 p.m., drew a large emergency response from the Tulare Fire Department units, including Engines 61 and 62, Truck 65, and Battalion 68. According to emergency dispatch audio, the incident may have involved a pin-in situation, with two to three individuals sustaining injuries described as minor to moderate. One person reportedly attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Fire crews arrived to find at least one vehicle in the middle of the roadway, creating a blockage that limited access and led to traffic being redirected. At least one victim was initially reported trapped inside a vehicle, prompting rescue efforts to safely remove them.
California Highway Patrol was notified but faced delays due to a shift change. In the meantime, Tulare responders secured the area and began medical evaluations of the injured. One individual was confirmed to have moderate injuries, while others were treated at the scene or declined transport.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the crash, including the actions of the fleeing individual. Additional updates are expected as more information becomes available.
