Turlock, CA (March 17, 2026) – A 52-year-old man from Turlock was killed early on Monday, March 16, after being struck by a vehicle while walking in a traffic lane on Washington Road. The crash was reported around 4:35 a.m. just south of Ehrlich Road.
Emergency units responded to the scene and found the man lying in the roadway next to a Toyota SUV with visible damage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the man had been walking in the northbound lane of Washington Road when he was hit. Investigators reported that a 2018 Toyota SUV, driven by 52-year-old Irene Rodriguez of Hilmar, was traveling northbound when the front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing him to fall.
Rodriguez was not hurt in the collision and was wearing a seat belt at the time. Officials stated that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
The incident remains under review by authorities.
