Waldorf, MD (August 26, 2026) – Two people were airlifted, and several others were injured on Tuesday morning, August 25, after a three-vehicle crash on Crain Highway just north of McKendree Road in Waldorf. The collision happened after a police pursuit that began at approximately 10:20 a.m.
Authorities said officers had attempted to stop a silver passenger car connected to a wanted person near Leonardtown Road and Lakewood Drive. The vehicle briefly pulled over before fleeing. Officers later found it in the southbound lanes of Crain Highway after it had crashed into two vans.
Emergency crews reported that two people were trapped in separate vehicles and required extrication. Two occupants of the fleeing vehicle were injured, including one person reported in critical condition. One occupant of a van suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while occupants of the second van had minor injuries.
Two patients were flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and a third was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. The incident is under investigation by authorities.
