St. George, UT (August 28, 2026) – Two bicyclists were injured on Wednesday afternoon, August 26, after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk at Brigham Road and Bloomington Hills Drive in St. George.
According to the alert, both bicyclists were in the crosswalk when the collision happened. Emergency crews responded to the scene, and drivers were reminded to move over for stopped emergency vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation. We hope both injured bicyclists receive care and recover fully.
Why Can Crosswalk Crashes Be Especially Dangerous for Bicyclists?
Bicyclists have little physical protection when struck by a motor vehicle, leaving them exposed to direct impact forces.
Crosswalks can also involve several traffic movements at once, including vehicles turning, entering an intersection, or crossing a cyclist’s path. A rider may be struck and then thrown onto the roadway, creating a second source of injury.
Vehicle speed, visibility, impact angle, roadway design, and cyclist position can all affect injury severity. When two riders are struck in the same incident, emergency crews may also need to assess multiple patients at once.
