Cameron Parish, LA (August 28, 2026) – Two people were killed, and 23 others were injured on Wednesday morning, August 26, in a head-on crash involving a car and a charter bus on Louisiana Highway 27 near Shawnee Lane, close to the Calcasieu Parish line. The collision happened shortly before 7:00 a.m.
According to Louisiana State Police, a northbound car crossed the center line and collided head-on with the charter bus. The 19-year-old driver of the car and a 19-year-old passenger died at the scene. A third person in the car suffered serious injuries. The bus driver and 21 passengers were also taken to hospitals. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious, according to State Police.
The bus was carrying people connected to a project in Cameron Parish. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
