Altamont, KS (July 31, 2026) – Two people died after a motorcycle and a pickup truck collided on Wednesday afternoon on US-59 about two miles northeast of Altamont in Labette County. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m.
According to investigators, a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle crossed the center line and entered the path of a southbound Jeep Gladiator pickup. The pickup driver veered to the right in an attempt to avoid the motorcycle, but the vehicles collided. Two people riding the Harley-Davidson were ejected during the wreck and died.
No additional information about the identities of the deceased or the condition of the pickup driver was immediately released. The cause of the collision remains under investigation as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances.
