Danbury, CT (July 15, 2026) – Two people died, and another person was seriously injured following a collision involving a motorcycle and a Jeep on Sugar Hollow Road early on Monday, July 13. Emergency units were called to the crash at approximately 2:45 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the motorcycle on its side in front of the Jeep. The motorcycle operator, 38-year-old Cooper Whiteside of Danbury, and his passenger, 34-year-old Brittany Islami of New Milford, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle had been traveling south on Sugar Hollow Road while the Jeep was heading north. The Jeep driver was removed from the vehicle and taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Whiteside was an off-duty Bridgeport police officer at the time of the collision.
Sugar Hollow Road remained closed for several hours while investigators examined the roadway.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of Cooper Whiteside and Brittany Islami, and we wish the injured person a full recovery.
