China, TX (July 29, 2026) – Two people died and two others were injured in a house fire on Linzay Street early Wednesday, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and fire crews responded around 12:30 a.m. to find the home fully engulfed and began evacuating people inside.
Two people were pulled from the home with critical injuries and later died at the hospital. Two others removed from the home had non-life-threatening injuries. Names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A Jefferson County justice of the peace has ordered autopsies. The cause remains unknown, and detectives and the State Fire Marshal’s Office continue to investigate. Our condolences go out to the victims’ families and loved ones.
