What Investigators Examine in High-Speed Pursuit Crashes
When crashes involve extremely high speeds and rollover dynamics, investigators focus on vehicle speed, loss-of-control factors, and roadway conditions at the time of the incident. Pursuit-related crashes also involve a detailed review of timing, decision-making, and compliance with pursuit policies.
Physical evidence, such as tire marks, rollover points, and vehicle rest positions, helps reconstruct how the crash unfolded. Investigators also evaluate restraint use, which is often a key factor in whether occupants are ejected during a rollover event.
