Odessa, TX (August 8, 2026) – Two Odessa drivers were killed in a head-on crash on Thursday morning, August 6, on the Interstate 20 service road near MM 108. The collision happened at about 5:15 a.m.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2023 Nissan Altima was traveling east on the north service road while a 2020 Volkswagen GTI was traveling west. The Volkswagen driver was attempting to enter an Interstate 20 on-ramp when the Nissan driver reportedly failed to yield the right of way, leading to the head-on collision.

The drivers were identified as 52-year-old Agustin Montoya-Garia and 19-year-old Alex Ramses, both of Odessa. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Our sincere condolences go out to the families and loved ones of Agustin Montoya-Garia and Alex Ramses.

What Is Typically Examined After a Head-On Crash?

Head-on crashes can cause severe damage because the vehicles are moving toward each other at the time of impact. The severity of the collision can depend on speed, the point of impact, vehicle size, and the amount of force involved.

After this type of crash, evidence may include vehicle damage, final resting positions, roadway marks, traffic patterns, and the layout of nearby ramps or intersections. Witness accounts and available video can also help clarify how each vehicle was moving before the collision. Information from the roadway and vehicles may provide a clearer picture of the events leading up to the impact.
