What Does Vehicle Entrapment Mean After a Traffic Emergency?
Vehicle entrapment occurs when a person cannot safely exit a car after a roadway incident. This can happen when doors are blocked, a vehicle’s frame is bent, or debris prevents occupants from getting out on their own. In these situations, specially trained personnel may use rescue tools to create a safe path for removal.
Entrapment does not always mean a person has severe injuries. In some cases, it is simply a precaution to prevent further harm while occupants are assessed. Rescue efforts often take additional time because crews work carefully to protect those inside the vehicle. Factors such as vehicle damage, occupant position, and roadway conditions can influence how long the process takes and what equipment is needed to complete a safe extraction.
