What Can Happen When a Vehicle Strikes a Building?
A vehicle entering a building can cause damage beyond the vehicles involved. The force may affect walls, doors, windows, utility connections, equipment, and other structures inside the property.
People inside a building can also face risks from falling materials or broken glass. The severity of harm depends on factors such as vehicle speed, the part of the structure struck, and whether people were nearby.
Vehicle occupants can experience injuries from sudden changes in motion even when the passenger compartment remains intact. Seat belts and airbags can help reduce some injuries by limiting occupant movement during a sudden stop.
