Omaha, NE (June 12, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized following a rollover accident at the intersection of 108th Street and Fort Street in northwest Omaha.
According to police, the crash occurred when a red car reportedly ran a red light and struck a silver car on the driver’s side. The force of the collision caused the silver vehicle to overturn at the intersection.
Both occupants of the silver car were taken to a local hospital. Police said one person was seriously injured, while the other was hurt less severely. No names or ages were released following the wreck.
Police are continuing to review the circumstances that led to the rollover. Our thoughts are with those receiving treatment, and we wish them a full recovery.
How Side-Impact Crashes Can Lead to Vehicle Rollovers
Side-impact crashes can cause a vehicle to roll over, particularly when the impact is forceful. The risk may increase if a vehicle is hit near its center of gravity, causing it to tip and lose stability. Larger vehicles and those with a higher ride height can also be more susceptible to overturning under certain conditions.
Rollover collisions often increase the risk of serious harm because occupants may be subjected to multiple movements inside the vehicle during the rollover sequence. Safety features such as seat belts, side-curtain airbags, and reinforced roof structures are designed to help reduce the risk of severe injury. Factors commonly examined after a rollover include vehicle speed, traffic signal compliance, roadway layout, and the point where contact between vehicles first occurred.
