What Injuries Are Commonly Reported After Residential Fires?
Residential fires can cause a variety of injuries, even when occupants can leave the building safely. Smoke inhalation is among the most common concerns because inhaling hot gases, smoke, or toxic substances can damage the lungs and airways. Symptoms may include coughing, shortness of breath, dizziness, and irritation of the eyes and throat.
Burn injuries can range from minor skin damage to more serious harm requiring specialized treatment. The severity usually depends on the temperature of the heat source and the length of exposure. Medical evaluations following a house fire frequently focus on breathing difficulties and burn-related injuries because some symptoms may not appear immediately. Early assessment can help identify complications and ensure that those affected receive appropriate care as recovery progresses.
