Why Motorcycle Crashes in Neighborhood Areas Can Cause Severe Injuries
Motorcycle crashes on local streets can still lead to serious injuries even when speed limits are lower than on highways. Riders have little physical protection in a collision, increasing the risk of trauma when they strike another vehicle or the roadway.
Investigators examining these crashes often review driver visibility, turning movements, roadway lighting, and traffic conditions near intersections or residential streets. Witness accounts can also become especially valuable because nearby residents may hear or see key moments leading up to the collision. In evening crashes, reduced visibility and changing traffic patterns may further affect reaction time for both drivers and riders.
