Lockport, NY (July 27, 2026) – Two people riding a motorcycle were injured on Saturday morning, July 25, when it collided with a minivan at Main and Pine streets in Lockport, near where a downtown block party was taking place. The wreck happened around 10:25 a.m.

Both the motorcycle’s operator and passenger were taken to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance. The Lockport Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate.

We hope both riders have a full recovery.

Why Do Motorcycle Crashes Near Crowded Events Require Extra Care?

When a crash happens near a busy event like a street festival, responders have to navigate through foot traffic and parked cars just to reach the scene. Streets that are partially closed or crowded with pedestrians can slow down both emergency vehicles and the initial response.

Bystanders at events like these are more likely to witness what happened, which can help investigators piece together the sequence of events. At the same time, crews have to manage curious onlookers to keep the area clear for treatment and evidence collection.

Motorcyclists riding through areas with heavier foot and vehicle traffic face added risk, since distracted pedestrians or slow-moving cars searching for parking can create unpredictable movements. Extra caution near events like block parties is recommended for exactly this reason.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
