Milan, MO (August 26, 2026) – Two men were injured in an accident at the Ayerco parking lot at 620 N Pearl St in Milan on Monday, August 24. The collision was reported at about 4:31 p.m. in Sullivan County.

A 61-year-old Roach man was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox through the parking lot when it struck a post and a stationary 2023 Honda ADV150. The motorcycle was at a fuel pump when the vehicle hit it.

The 59-year-old Milan man riding the motorcycle suffered serious injuries. The Equinox driver sustained minor injuries, and both men were taken to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.

Both vehicles were towed from the parking lot. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review, and we hope both men receive the care they need to recover.

What Injuries Can Occur in Parking Lot Collisions?

Parking lot collisions can cause injuries even when vehicles are moving at lower speeds. People may experience bruising, cuts, broken bones, neck strain, or back pain from sudden vehicle movement.

Motorcycles offer less physical protection than enclosed vehicles. A rider can be thrown from the motorcycle or knocked against nearby objects, depending on how the vehicle is struck.

Drivers should maintain low speeds in parking lots and watch for pedestrians, parked vehicles, motorcycles, signs, and other fixed objects. Extra attention is also helpful near fuel pumps, where vehicles and people may move through a confined space.

Seat belts protect people inside vehicles by helping keep them properly positioned. Motorcyclists can reduce some risks by wearing approved helmets and protective riding gear.
