What Happens When a Driver Fails to Yield?
Failing to yield can create a serious hazard when vehicles approach an intersection or enter a roadway with traffic already moving through the area. A driver may have limited time to respond once another vehicle enters their path.
Large service trucks can also require more distance to stop because of their size and weight. The force of an impact can be significant when a smaller passenger vehicle and a larger truck collide.
Drivers should pay attention to right-of-way signs and signals before entering an intersection. Checking for approaching traffic and allowing sufficient space can help reduce the risk of a collision.
