Richfield Township, MI (June 10, 2026) – Two people were injured on Tuesday night, June 9, after a two-vehicle crash at M-15 and Potter Road in Richfield Township.
The accident was reported around 10:00 p.m. The report said a GMC Sierra truck was traveling west on Potter Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign.
The truck then hit a Chevy Equinox that was traveling north on M-15. The truck driver, a 27-year-old Davison man, was hurt in the collision.
A female passenger in the Equinox was also injured. Both were brought to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for treatment.
The crash knocked down a large utility pole and fiber optic lines near the intersection. Northbound and southbound M-15 remained closed on Wednesday morning while repair work continued.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review as more details are confirmed. We hope both people hurt receive the care they need.
Utility Line Damage Extends Crash Disruptions
Crashes that damage utility poles or fiber-optic lines may affect more than just the people inside the vehicles. Downed lines can create safety concerns near the road and may require repair crews before lanes reopen.
When a pole falls near an intersection, traffic may need to be stopped in both directions. Drivers may also be redirected while workers check the lines, clear hazards, and restore service.
These closures can last several hours when fiber-optic cables are involved. Repairs may require careful handling because communication lines can serve homes, businesses, and emergency systems. Early reports usually focus on injuries and road closures first, while later updates may provide more detail about repair timelines and when the route is expected to reopen.
