Douglas County, NV (June 6, 2026) – Two people were injured on Saturday morning after a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck on Highway 395 near Johnson Lane.
The crash occurred around 7:10 a.m. and resulted in the northbound lanes of Highway 395 being shut down while emergency crews responded. The collision involved a car that became wedged under a semi-truck, requiring rescue efforts to extricate the occupants.
Emergency air medical units landed on the highway and transported both patients to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officials reported that the two occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A witness stated that a southbound semi-truck was turning onto Highway 395 from Johnson Lane when the crash occurred. Northbound traffic was diverted to Airport Road while crews worked at the scene, and the roadway reopened later in the morning after the vehicles were cleared.
Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision. We are thinking of those injured and wish them a smooth recovery.
How Semi-Truck Turning Crashes Can Lead to Serious Vehicle Entrapment
Collisions involving large trucks making turns across or onto highways can sometimes result in severe vehicle damage due to the size and weight difference between vehicles. When a smaller car becomes pinned or trapped under a truck, occupants may become physically confined inside the vehicle.
In these situations, rescue crews often focus on safely stabilizing both vehicles before attempting extraction. Heavy equipment may be required to lift or separate vehicles enough to reach those inside.
Traffic control and temporary road closures are also common during emergency operations. Investigators typically examine vehicle positions, timing of the turn, and visibility conditions to better understand how the collision occurred.
