Chautauqua, NY (August 22, 2026) – Two people died on Thursday, August 20, after their vehicles collided on Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua.
The accident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. Alexander Morelli, 23, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, was traveling east when his vehicle crossed a double solid center line. His vehicle then struck a westbound vehicle driven by Doug Griffith, 51, of Massena, New York.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency units and other personnel assisted following the wreck, though additional details about the circumstances were not immediately available. The investigation into what led to the fatal crash is continuing.
