Preston, NY (August 22, 2026) – A 62-year-old woman died on Thursday, August 20, after a house fire at 660 County Road 4 in Preston.
Firefighters were called to the property around 2:30 a.m. and found the home fully engulfed in flames. Neighbors reported that the tenant might still be inside, and firefighters later found her body inside the residence.
New York State Police identified the woman as Suzanne Schatzle. The circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation.
