Why Are Multi-Vehicle Collisions So Dangerous?
Multi-vehicle collisions can cause serious injuries because several vehicles may become involved within seconds. A person may be struck more than once as vehicles move through the area.
The risk of severe harm can increase when vehicles are traveling at higher speeds or when multiple impacts occur. Seat belts can help protect drivers and passengers from being thrown inside or out of a vehicle.
Drivers can reduce their risk by keeping a safe following distance, watching traffic ahead, and staying alert for sudden changes. Slowing down when traffic becomes crowded can also give drivers more time to react.
