What Happens in a Motorcycle Crash?
Motorcycle crashes can result in serious injuries because riders have less physical protection than occupants inside enclosed vehicles. The severity of an injury can depend on factors such as vehicle speed, the direction of travel, the point of contact, protective equipment, and whether the rider was thrown from the motorcycle.
Turning movements can also create risks when vehicles cross the path of motorcycles traveling in the opposite direction. Drivers should check for approaching motorcycles before beginning a turn and allow sufficient space for other road users.
After a serious motorcycle crash, medical records, witness accounts, photographs, and police reports may help establish what occurred. Each case depends on its specific circumstances.
