How Investigators Examine Fatal Two-Vehicle Collisions
In fatal crashes involving multiple vehicles, investigators typically analyze vehicle positions, impact damage, roadway evidence, and witness statements to determine how the collision occurred. The severity of damage can often provide important clues about the direction and force of impact.
Authorities may also review speed, traffic conditions, visibility, and potential driver impairment or distraction. In some cases, electronic data from the vehicles can help reconstruct events in the moments leading up to the crash. These findings assist investigators in determining contributing factors and whether any enforcement action is warranted.
