Bronx, NY (August 30, 2026) – Two New York Police Department officers were injured early Friday morning, August 28, after their patrol vehicle was rear-ended on the Bruckner Expressway near East 144th Street in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
Detectives said the crash happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. when a BMW struck the rear of the NYPD cruiser. The impact caused the police vehicle to overturn and catch fire. Both officers were able to get out of the burning cruiser and were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries; they were listed in stable condition. Authorities continue investigating the collision.
