Darke County, OH (August 30, 2026) – An 18-year-old woman was transported by helicopter to a hospital after a two-vehicle collision in Darke County on Friday morning, while another person was also hospitalized.

The incident was reported shortly before 10:40 a.m. on August 28, at Horatio Harris Creek Road and Auld Road. The Darke County Sheriff’s Office said the woman, Willow Nicole of Troy, was driving a red Pontiac G6 north on Auld Road. The Pontiac failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by an eastbound white Chevy truck.

MedFlight transported Nicole to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. A passenger in the Pontiac was also taken to Wayne HealthCare with minor injuries and was treated and released. The available information did not provide further details about the extent of Nicole’s injuries.

We extend our thoughts to the injured and wish them a swift recovery.

What Should Drivers Know About Stop Signs at Intersections?

Stop signs require drivers to come to a complete stop before entering an intersection. After stopping, motorists should check for approaching vehicles and make sure the roadway is clear before proceeding.

Intersections can become especially dangerous when one driver fails to stop. Vehicles traveling through the other roadway may have little time to avoid a vehicle entering their path.

Drivers should remain alert for posted signs and adjust their speed as they approach intersections. Keeping distractions to a minimum can also help motorists recognize traffic hazards sooner.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
