What Can Make Motorcycle and SUV Crashes Serious?
Motorcycle accidents can result in severe injuries because riders have less physical protection than occupants inside enclosed vehicles. Differences in vehicle size and visibility can also make motorcycle and SUV collisions particularly dangerous. Drivers should check mirrors and blind spots carefully before changing lanes or turning.
Motorcyclists can improve visibility by using headlights and wearing protective riding gear. Maintaining a safe speed gives both motorists and riders more time to react to unexpected traffic movements. Drivers should also leave adequate space when following a motorcycle because motorcycles can stop or change position quickly. Distractions can prevent motorists from noticing a motorcycle in time. Staying alert, checking surrounding traffic, and obeying traffic laws can reduce the likelihood of serious roadway accidents.
